The purpose of the trip is to sample itinerary designed for adventurous travelers seeking a true self-drive experience in Uganda, exploring the country’s wildlife highlights at your own pace. Trip also combines thrilling adventure activities while relaxing each night in comfortable hotels.

2 Days in Lake Mburo National Park
Pick up your Toyota RAV4 in Kampala early on Day 1 and drive southwest on smooth tarmac (approximately 250 km, 3–4 hours) through scenic countryside to Lake Mburo National Park. Arrive in the early afternoon, complete park entry formalities, and head out for an introductory game drive or boat safari on the lake, spotting zebras, impalas, elands, giraffes, buffalo, and a variety of birds. The following day is dedicated to more wildlife viewing with a morning walking safari and another game drive across the open plains and acacia woodlands. Relax at your hotel each evening after exciting days on the road and in the bush.
3 Days in Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast on departure day from Lake Mburo, pack the RAV4 and drive west (approximately 150 km, 2–3 hours) into Queen Elizabeth National Park. Arrive mid-morning and immediately enjoy a game drive on the Kasenyi plains for elephants, buffalo, Uganda kob, and lions. Over your three full days here you will also take a relaxing boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see huge pods of hippos, crocodiles, and elephants at the water’s edge, plus the highlight chimpanzee trek in Kyambura Gorge – a guided forest walk to encounter habituated chimps in their natural habitat. Evenings are spent unwinding at your hotel after each day’s adventures.
3 Days in Murchison Falls National Park
From Queen Elizabeth you drive north (approximately 350 km, 7–8 hours) via scenic routes through the Albertine Rift Valley to Murchison Falls National Park. Arrive in the late afternoon and settle in. Over the next three days you will enjoy early-morning game drives on the northern bank spotting elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and possibly lions; an afternoon boat cruise along the Victoria Nile towards the dramatic Murchison Falls; and a short guided hike to the top-of-the-falls viewpoint to witness the powerful cascade. Each evening you return to your hotel to relax after thrilling wildlife encounters and the roar of the Nile.

1 Day at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, pack up and drive south from Murchison Falls (approximately 200 km, 4–5 hours) to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Arrive in time for a guided rhino-tracking experience on foot – an unforgettable opportunity to observe the only wild rhinos in Uganda at close range with experienced rangers. Spend the afternoon exploring the sanctuary’s trails for additional wildlife and birds before continuing your journey. Overnight at your hotel near the sanctuary.

2 Days in Jinja and Return to Kampala
From Zziwa you drive southeast (approximately 180 km, 4 hours) through Kampala’s outskirts to Jinja, arriving in the afternoon. The following day is dedicated to the thrilling white-water rafting experience on the mighty Nile – a full-day adventure navigating Grade 5 rapids with professional guides and safety equipment. Use the second day for relaxed exploration around the source of the Nile or simply resting after the excitement. On the final morning of your 12-day trip, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before driving back to Kampala (approximately 80 km, 1.5–2 hours). Drop off your Toyota RAV4 in the afternoon and conclude your unforgettable self-drive adventure across Uganda’s most spectacular destinations.
