What are the booking procedures?

You can book with Car Hire Uganda in three major ways.

How do I determine a suitable car for my trip?

As a traveler, you have many options to help you find your perfect car rental on our site via the Vehicles section.
Another option is informing us about the features that you need in a car, so we can provide the best choices for you to select from.

Note: Selecting a suitable car also goes hand in hand with your kind of budget.

Are there any age restrictions?

Yes. In Uganda, persons under 18 years of age are not allowed to drive. Therefore, we also do not rent to those aged below 18. This means that we shall charge you an extra USD 30 for a driver per day.

Meanwhile, In Uganda, There are also a correlation on the limits of the size of vehicle you are permitted to drive and your age.

Can I give to anyone else to drive my rented car?

Yes, but only if that additional driver is included and named on the rental agreement. This is to ensure any insurance coverage and liability coverage is valid.

In case you give it to some one else who is not included in the agreement and it gets a fault or makes an accident or gets lost, you will be fully liable to the compensation of all the damages.

What types of car are available for hire?

Car Hire Uganda offers a wide range of vehicle categories from small economical cars through family vehicles, luxury cars, safari vehicles and mini-vans.

As with most car rental reservations in Uganda and may be some other countries, the exact make and model of car cannot be selected when you make your booking. We carry different makes and models within each car type though we are continually updating our fleets.

Are there any mileage limits?

The majority of quoted prices include unlimited mileage.

PICKING YOUR CAR

Which documents do I need to bring for pick-up?

You will need a valid driver’s license and a copy of your Passport in the name of the primary driver.

Are there any additional costs?

In case the pick-up location is at the Entebbe International Airport or areas around Kampala, the pick-up cost is free of charge.

However, for areas beyond that, there will be extra costs as agreed upon with the management while settling the reservation.

Fuel is not also part of the price of the rental fees quoted on the website.

PLACING THE PAYMENT

What are the payment methods accepted at Car Hire Uganda and when will I be charged?
  • Most of our clients always make full payments for the rental on the day of the pick-up of the car. This has to be Cash.
  • We only accept Visa credit cards before 21 days to the pick-up date.
  • We also accept wire transfer. More details about this payment method is agreed upon after placing your booking.
Can I use a debit/ Master card?

No, we accept the use of a credit card. Some rental car companies will accept a Debit cards, master cards and others require further forms of identification and proof of insurance and credit checks that takes a lot of time.

Pre-paid cards and gift cards are not also accepted for any reservation type.

What is the accepted payment Currency?

The primary accepted currency is US Dollars. In case you want to pay in any other currency, we shall convert it to US Dollars depending on the rate provided by the management.

Clarify more about Pre-paid and partial-paid reservations?
  • Pre-paid reservations or Pay Now reservations are paid for immediately upon securing your reservation. They may not be modified or cancelled.
  • Partial-paid reservations require a deposit to secure the reservation and may be cancelled or modified with sufficient notification and a few penalties.

However, we still recommend paying cash on the pick-up date. Pre-paid and Partial paid are accepted from the client’s will.

How do I pay for long term rentals like for 2+ months?

If the client is willing to hire a car with Car Hire Uganda for a long period like more than a month. We recommend paying at every start of the upcoming month of the rental.

DURING YOUR RENTAL

Can I use the car in another state?
  • Yes, it is accepted only if you discussed it with us during the reservation, though you will need to be provided with some additional documents. Read our Booking Conditions or the Car Rental Agreement on the Site for furthur details about this .
What happens if I have an accident?

In the event of an accident, you should inform the rental company immediately. If a third-party is involved, you should also contact the local police and request an accident report.

When you return the vehicle, make sure that the rental company issues you a damage report and receipts for any applicable charges. For furthur information about this, also read our Car Rental Agreement on the website.

What happens if I break down?

We offer roadside assistance. In the event of a break down, you should inform the rental company as soon as possible. If the break-down is minimal, we can fix it in less than 6 hours so you can continue with your rental.

If it is serious, you can request for a change of a car that we can deliver to you in the shortest time possible as depending on the location you are in.

Can I extend my reservation?
  • Yes, you can extend your reservations. What you have to do is only contacting the company or the reservations manager.

RETURNING YOUR CAR

Do I have to return the vehicle with a full tank?

No, but to avoid an additional costs, you should return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as originally provided.

Can I drop the car off somewhere else?

Yes, one-way rentals are available. Please make sure you specify the pick up and drop off points when booking. Though this may include some extra costs. You would need to contact the car rental company to determine the feasibility and cost of returning the vehicle to another location.

Can I return the car early?

Yes. However, this may not result in a refund.

Can I return the car after hours?

Some locations will permit after-hours drop off. However, for locations near Kampala, returning a car after more than 6 hours from the agreed upon dates will incur you a charge of an extra day.

This is the same as returning the car late.
