24-Day Self-Drive Safari Around Uganda (Pop-up Land cruiser)

The vehicle to be used is a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX with pop-up roof, a powerful, reliable 4x4 with excellent off-road capability, spacious interior. All nights are spent in comfortable hotels within or near each destination (with secure parking). Fuel, park fees, permits (gorilla/chimp tracking booked in advance), and meals are self-managed.

Purpose of the Trip

This sample itinerary is designed for adventurous travelers seeking a true all-round self-drive experience that circles the entire country. You’ll explore Uganda’s diverse landscapes, wildlife, waterfalls, primates, and culture at your own pace while staying in comfortable hotels.

Expect game drives and boat safaris for big game and birds, waterfall hikes, chimpanzee and mountain gorilla trekking, crater-lake exploration, cultural encounters, and a final Kampala city tour.

Days 1–2: Entebbe and Jinja

Pick up your Toyota Land Cruiser Prado TX in Kampala early on Day 1 and drive the short distance to Entebbe for a relaxed introduction to Uganda, including visits to the botanical gardens or nearby wildlife spots. On Day 2, continue to Jinja for a full day exploring the source of the Nile, a relaxing boat ride on Lake Victoria, and the lively town atmosphere. Each evening you unwind at your hotel after easy driving days.

Days 3–4: Sipi Falls

From Jinja you drive northeast to the stunning Sipi Falls area. From Kidepo you head southwest to Murchison Falls National Park. Over four full days you will enjoy early-morning game drives on the northern bank spotting elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and big cats; an afternoon boat cruise along the Victoria Nile towards the dramatic waterfall; a guided hike to the top-of-the-falls viewpoint; and an additional relaxed game drive or exploration around the falls area. Days 14–15: Kibale Forest and Fort Portal

Drive south through scenic countryside to Kibale Forest National Park and the nearby Fort Portal area. On Day 14 rise early for an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking trek in the dense rainforest. Days 16–19: Queen Elizabeth National Park
