$55 Per Day for car rental with ground camping equipment. Fuel, park fees and meals are self-managed.

You can choose to spend some nights nights at designated campsites within or near the parks and towns with your ground tent. However, this kind of camping is ideal during dry seasons.

Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe to Jinja

Pick up your Toyota RAV4 in Kampala or Entebbe early morning and drive east to Jinja (approximately 80 km, 1.5–2 hours) along smooth tarmac. Spend the day exploring the source of the Nile and enjoy a thrilling full-day white-water rafting adventure on the mighty Nile (Grade 5 rapids with professional guides and safety gear – permit booked in advance). In the afternoon, set up your ground tent at a campsite near the source of the Nile and unwind after the excitement while preparing dinner with your camping equipment.

Day 2: Jinja to Sipi Falls

After breakfast and packing up your tent, drive northeast from Jinja to the stunning Sipi Falls area (approximately 140 km, 3–4 hours) through rolling hills and rural landscapes. Dedicate the full day to guided hikes to the three cascading waterfalls, a coffee plantation tour, and panoramic viewpoints of Mount Elgon. In the evening, set up your ground tent at a campsite overlooking the falls and relax in the cool highland air.

Day 3: Sipi Falls to Murchison Falls National Park

Pack up your camping gear and begin the scenic drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park (approximately 450 km, 8–9 hours via reliable routes). The long transfer day offers beautiful changing landscapes from highlands to the Albertine Rift Valley. Arrive in the late afternoon, complete park entry, and set up your ground tent at a savanna campsite near Paraa. Rest after the journey while listening to the sounds of the bush.

Days 4–5: Murchison Falls National Park
Bush tent or raised ground tent

You can also choose to rent our bush camping tents, that are a bit raised from the ground. However, these cannot fit in a toyota Rav4, would need a larger vehicle and its price is a bit higher. It is also smaller as compared to the 2 sleeper ground tents that we offer with our normal ground camping equipment.

Enjoy two full days of adventure in one of Uganda’s premier wildlife destinations. Start with early-morning game drives on the northern bank spotting elephants, giraffes, buffalo, Uganda kob, and possibly lions or leopards. Take an afternoon boat cruise along the Victoria Nile towards the dramatic Murchison Falls, watching crocodiles and hippos up close. On the second day, hike to the top-of-the-falls viewpoint for a breathtaking view of the Nile squeezing through the narrow gorge. Each evening return to your campsite, set up your ground tent, and relax under the stars after thrilling wildlife encounters.

Day 6: Murchison Falls to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast and packing up, drive south from Murchison Falls to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary (approximately 180 km, 3–4 hours). Arrive in time for a guided rhino-tracking experience on foot – an unforgettable close encounter with Uganda’s only wild rhinos, accompanied by experienced rangers. In the afternoon, set up your ground tent at a nearby campsite and explore the sanctuary trails for additional birds and wildlife.

Day 7: Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to Entebbe or Kampala

Enjoy a relaxed morning if you wish for extra time at Zziwa, then pack up your camping gear and drive back to Entebbe or Kampala (approximately 150–180 km, 3–3.5 hours) via smooth tarmac. Drop off your Toyota RAV4 at your chosen location in the afternoon and conclude your unforgettable 7-day ground camping self-drive adventure across Uganda’s eastern highlights, waterfalls, and northern wildlife gems.
